Profile:

One of our proudest achievements at The Speech Therapy Centres of Canada is the success we have had with individuals with communication issues following an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Individuals, who have suffered from an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), may have difficulty on any one of many different levels of communication. There many areas of the brain that are used in communication. Some parts of the brain help you understand what others are saying or writing, while other parts help you form your own thoughts into speech or other forms of communication. A brain injury to any one of these areas may make communication difficult. Acquired Brain Injury may be the result of an accident such as a car crash, sports injury, or fall. Many brain injuries are also the result of a stroke, tumour, aneurism, surgery, or any other trauma to the brain. Acquired Brain Injury related communication challenges require highly focused therapies that we have been practicing for many years now. But more than that, it involves patience and understanding to the challenges an individual with Acquired Brain Injury is going through. We develop custom therapies that not only match the needs of communication challenges of Acquired Brain Injury, but the emotional and esteem issues as well. There’s great hope for individuals with Acquired Brain Injury. Should you or a loved one have a communication challenge that you feel may be the result of an Acquired Brain Injury, we encourage you to reach out to us. We use many communication techniques and strategies to help individuals with Acquired Brain Injury related communication disorders to move forward with their lives. With The Speech Therapy Centres of Canada and our amazing team, you and your loved one will always have the support, therapy and the encouragement that you will need.
